Education Credentials:

Akron High School:  4 years Business Education Teacher

  • Developed and installed 6 new business curriculum courses in two years.  Course work included study skills class for at-risk 9th grade students, Principles of Marketing, which opened and operates the school store, Senior Seminar-a transition course for seniors as well as College Survival 101 which assists students going to college or work, Sports Management focused on the principles of management and Leadership Skills.  
  • Instruction includes courses in Career and Financial Management, Principles of Marketing, Computer Awareness – Microsoft Office Applications, Study Skills, Sports Management, Senior Seminar, and Principles of Accounting. 6 Preps per year every year. 
  • Coordinated a school wide assembly on the skills necessary for a career with Mark Kelso.  $1000.00 Speaker fee fundraised by accounting class donated to Hunter’s Hope.  Worked with Make a Wish Foundation to grant 2 wishes. 
  • Strategic Planning Action Team Member, two team appointments to develop a district wide 5 year strategic plan.  The plan was adopted in 2006.
  • Yearbook Moderator (2005-2007), DECA School Store Moderator (2005-2008)

Villa Maria Academy:  3 years Business Education Teacher

  • Developed state approved syllabus and curriculum for a course in Leadership Skills, a requirement for all juniors and seniors as well as a course entitled Internet Applications.    State approved Business Regent 3 and 5 unit Sequences.
  • Instruction included courses in Leadership Skills, Introduction to Occupations, Business Law, Business Internship, Principles of Marketing, Business Ownership, Computer Applications (BABCA) and Business Communication Technology (Keyboarding and Microsoft Word Application), and Internet Applications.
  • Academic Council Member, committee met to discuss academic issues for the school, maintenance of the Middle States accreditation.  Assigned to address the leadership section of the accreditation for yearly update.
  • Yearbook Moderator (2000-2002) moderator of Leadership Training Conferences for yearbook (30) staff members.  Mentor for students in volunteer service programs for the Buffalo Botanical Garden Society, Toy Town USA Foundation, SABAH, Hunter’s Hope, City Mission and Fisher-Price Toy Fest.
  • Supervised a student teacher from Canisius College fall 2003.
  • Career Day Event Coordinator for 187 students and supervisor of interns 2003-2004.

Genesee Community College:  4 years Adjunct Professor for Business, Education and Travel and Tourism,

  • Developed syllabus and overall course structure, and administered all grades for Education Foundation courses discussing curriculum design, school policy, state and national educational teaching standards; Business Curriculum classes in Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, Computer Information Systems – Microsoft applications for XP, Travel and Tourism Curriculum.
  • Instructional delivery systems include:  traditional classroom, distance learning lab, experiential learning settings, with a variety of assessment tools to measure learning objectives
  • Supervision of student volunteers in experiential learning experiences at a variety of community service organizations. 
  • Integration of Technology into all course topics and the SCANS 2000 components.
  • Student population composed of a mixture of traditional and non–traditional adult learners.

Bryant & Stratton College:  6 years Travel and Tourism and Business Instructor

  • Instruction included Business:  Introduction to Business, Leadership/Management, Business Organizations, Sales Techniques, Marketing and Introduction to Computers; General Studies:  Math, English, Verbal Communications; Travel and Tourism:  All courses including geography, marketing, sales and computer System One training courses.
  • Department Chair and Extern Coordinator for Travel and Tourism students, supervisor of department teachers. 
  • Curriculum design committee member to incorporate the competencies of SCANS 2000 in all degree programs.  This included development of Authentic Assessments, Instructional Design Materials and Portfolio Evaluation and training of new faculty to increase the skills associated with entry level positions. 
  • Student population:  Non – traditional at risk urban learners
  • In the three years that I was chair of the Travel and Tourism Department 100% of my students secured jobs in their career field by the time they graduated. 

Professional Credentials

Crockett-Hines Travel:  10 years Professional Meeting Planner, Corporate and Leisure Travel Agent
  • Generated 18% of gross sales as Corporate/Leisure/Meeting planner consultant
  • Coordinated travel arrangements based on budgetary constraints.
  • Managed group and meeting functions domestically and internationally
  • Mentored students on externships and new employees on computer training and destination information.
Travel Masters:  4 years Corporate and Leisure Travel Agent
  • Corporate and Leisure travel consultant
MTI Vacations-Chicago Illinois:  2 years Reservations Agent
  • Reservation consultant to travel agents throughout the United States who booked vacations to Hawaii for their clients.
  • Destination training on island, hotel, activities, and restaurants

Volunteer Credentials:

Kempo Martial Arts Academy College preparatory program: 

  • College Preparatory Program:  Assist high school students with career preparation and the college application process
  • Instructor for the “Tiger Woods Start Something Leadership Development” Program for students ages 12 – 15.  Students complete a 10 week leadership training program which culminates with a community service project.  Past projects include:  The Steadfast Foundation, East Aurora FISH, and East Aurora Senior Center. 

Toy Town Museum

  • Volunteer Educator developing summer programming and educational grant initiatives
  • Moderator for student volunteers for special events and student teacher designed activities
  • Conducted tours and workshops for youth groups from age 6 to age 15.
  • 2004 Volunteer of the Year

Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Garden Society:

  • Travel coordinator for Society’s docents.  Moderator for student volunteers for a number of the society’s fund raising events.

Summary
For the last 15 years my career has been dedicated to students achieving their goals through the classroom, the service learning outreach programs, my volunteer work for the Toy Town Museum and Kempo Martial Arts Academy.
